Online 1-to-1 IELTS Speaking tutoring for learners who practise hard but don't know what to fix first
You have done the mocks and collected the feedback, yet your answers still stop in the same place. The problem is rarely too little practice. It is that nobody has helped you choose the one thing worth fixing first.
Mr. Jay's team of professional IELTS teachers starts there: one priority from your own evidence, practised together, then answered again on your own. You leave with a clear next step, not another list.

Why practising more doesn't tell you what to fix first
Fix everything at once under pressure and almost nothing sticks. Three patterns come up often:
- Your Speaking answers stop short. Part 3 gets a quick answer, then silence or repetition.
- Many mocks, same feedback. You are not sure which comment matters most.
- Your ideas feel thin. The explanation stops before it lands, in Speaking Part 3 or a Writing Task 2 paragraph.
How a session works: diagnose, one priority, structure, practise, re-measure
The diagnostic and the 1-to-1 session are separate services. The session starts where your report ends.
- Diagnose from your own evidence. We start from a recent answer (an AI Speaking report or a Live Speaking Baseline) and the sentences you actually said, not just the band.
- Agree one priority and keep one strength. For example: developing the reason (Speaking Part 3), controlling one recurring grammar pattern, or answering every part of the task (Writing Task 2, bring your essay).
- Build a simple structure. Such as position → reason → what that reason leads to. A way of thinking, not a script to memorise.
- Practise together. Several questions, feedback in the moment. Live, your teacher also hears pronunciation, which a typed AI report cannot assess.
- Answer again, then re-measure. You answer a new question on your own, compare it with your first answer, and leave with an agreed follow-up on a new prompt. No band increase is promised.
Proposed 60-minute agenda: review report 10 min · teach and model 15 · guided practice 15 · independent revision 15 · follow-up 5. Thirty minutes covers one priority and a short independent attempt; ninety allows deeper practice and a brand-new prompt.
Use your strengths to fix the weakness. A clear position stays clear while we add one step to the reason; good topic vocabulary is used to extend a short answer; fluent speakers keep their pace and slow down only at the one grammar pattern.
Illustrative example
Illustrative example. Your session uses your own answer.
- Speaking Part 3, first answer: “Governments should tax sugary drinks because it is good for health.”
- Evidence: the position is clear, but the link between claim and consequence stops after one step. Strength to keep: a clear position. Priority: develop the reason.
- Independent attempt: “Taxing sugary drinks raises their price, so people buy fewer of them — and over time that lowers how much sugar they eat.”
- Follow-up: explain how one policy could change everyday behaviour.

Where to start: the Live Speaking Baseline
No recent answer to work from? The Live Speaking Baseline is 690,000 VND for about 15–20 minutes live with an assessor on Google Meet: four criterion bands, an overall band and a plan for your weakest criterion. A parallel prompt is kept for a later retest. Adults can also start with an AI Speaking practice mock.
Questions
Do I need a diagnostic first? It helps. Adults can start with the Live Speaking Baseline or an AI Speaking practice mock; for under-18s, a parent can book a teacher-led session directly.
Who will teach my session? A teacher from Mr. Jay's team of professional IELTS teachers.
Will my band score go up? No result is guaranteed. Each session gives you one clear priority, an independent attempt and a follow-up task on a new prompt.
Can my child (under 18) have sessions? Yes, with a parent's or guardian's consent. The parent chooses “My child (under 18)”, adds the child's name and age, and confirms consent.
Do you teach IELTS General Training? No. Sessions are for IELTS Academic.
What if I need to move or cancel? At least 24 hours ahead, the lesson is returned. Unused lessons are refundable within 14 days.
