Jurassic English™AI SPEAKING

Terms for AI Speaking, 1-to-1 lessons and the Live Speaking Baseline

Last updated 8 October 2026

What you buy

You buy credits. A credit is used when you START an IELTS-style Speaking practice mock: Basic report 1 credit, Intermediate 2, Advanced 3. You choose the report before you start.

The result is practice feedback generated by AI. It is not an official IELTS score, it is not endorsed by IELTS, IDP, British Council or Cambridge, and we do not guarantee any score or band.

Who can use it

The AI practice mock is for users aged 18 and over. Younger students can join our teacher-led Young Learners programme instead. The Live Speaking Baseline (a live session with our assessor) also accepts learners under 18 when a parent or legal guardian books it and gives consent; those sessions are never recorded.

How long credits last

Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase. Unused credits expire after that.

Refunds

Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Email us with your order code to ask.

If our scoring fails for a technical reason, the mock's credits are returned to your code automatically. If your answers are too short to score, the mock stays open: add more and submit again. If you leave the page, the same access code continues the same mock within 3 hours; after that its credits count as used.

Your answers and data

Your answers (typed, or the text of your spoken answers) are sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API; Google may process and briefly cache it in any country where it has facilities), to produce your feedback. We keep the text of your answers and your report on our servers for 30 days, to deliver your report and so Jurassic English can review it; they are shared with no one else and are then deleted automatically. Recordings are never kept. Google does not use them to improve its products and keeps them only for a limited period to detect misuse.

Speaking mode (beta, optional): if you choose to speak your answers, a recording of each spoken answer goes from your browser to a processing service we run on Vercel in Singapore, which passes it to Microsoft Azure Speech (Singapore). It is used only to write down what you said and to measure pronunciation and fluency (for example speech rate, pauses and Azure's 0–100 pronunciation indicators), never to identify you. The recordings do not pass through our website. Jurassic English does not store or log them, and our processing service on Vercel handles each one in memory only and keeps no audio; Microsoft processes them and discards them under its own terms. The text of what you said and the measures are then sent to our scoring AI provider, like typed answers. In Part 3, the text of each answer is also sent to that provider to write one follow-up question about your own point; the question is read aloud by an AI voice made by the same processing service and Microsoft Azure Speech (Singapore); it is saved with the text of your answer (see above) and kept with your report in your browser. Measures from speech are practice estimates in beta, not exact measurements. You can type your answers instead at any time.

When you order, we keep your full name, the email or Zalo contact you give us, your order code, your payment details and, if you ticked it, your updates choice, for payment records.

1-to-1 lessons with Mr. Jay's team

A lesson is 60 minutes with Mr. Jay's team on Google Meet. You pay by bank transfer (VietQR). When your transfer arrives we email you a private link to book your lessons from Mr. Jay's calendar, from 12 hours to 4 weeks ahead.

One session booked on the 1-to-1 sessions page (30, 60 or 90 minutes, where a price is shown) works the other way round: you choose the time first, it is held for you while you pay, and the session is confirmed only when your transfer is confirmed and the Google Calendar invitation with the Meet link is sent. If your transfer is confirmed after your hold has ended and the time has meanwhile been booked by someone else, your payment is kept as a session of the same length for you to book another time (or refunded on request). A session is a lesson under these terms: the rules below apply to it, and a session of one length is booked only as that length.

Lessons are valid for 5 weeks (35 days) from payment: each lesson must take place before then. Unused lessons expire.

Cancel or move a lesson at least 24 hours before it starts and the lesson goes back to your balance. Later than that, or if you miss the lesson, it counts as used. If we have to cancel, the lesson always goes back to you.

Refunds: a full refund within 14 days of payment if no lesson has been used. After that, unused lessons can be moved but not refunded.

Lessons are not recorded. A parent or guardian can buy and book lessons for a learner under 18 and agrees on their behalf.

Keep your private link to yourself: anyone who has it can book or cancel your lessons. You can ask for a new link at any time, and the old one stops working.

To run your lessons we keep your name, email, the learner's name and age if you booked for a child, your lesson times and payments, and, for a session booked on the 1-to-1 sessions page, the priority and goal you chose. Lessons are booked in Mr. Jay's Google Calendar with a Google Meet link, so Google (Google LLC) processes the booking.

Live Speaking Baseline

The Live Speaking Baseline (one live assessment session) is fully refunded if you cancel at least 24 hours before your session. Later than that, or if you miss it without notice, it can be rescheduled once.
