Choose the path that fits your learner's goal

Not sure whether to start with Reading or Speaking for a 9–14 year old? Choose Path 1 (Reading & Story Adventures) if your child needs richer vocabulary, reading comprehension and structured paragraph writing. Choose Path 2 (Speaking Confidence & Teen IELTS) if your child already reads well on paper but hesitates to speak out loud.

Illustrative Teaching Example · How we teach students to explain an idea

How we move learners from a one-line opinion to a supported explanation

Short story excerpt (sample prompt)

“As the storm rose, Maya looked at her last dry flare. She could save it to signal the rescue boat for herself, or fire it now so the lost fishing crew could see the reef.”

Teacher question

“Did Maya make a wise choice when she fired the flare for the crew? Explain your answer using a detail from the story.”

Typical uncoached answer

“Yes, I think Maya made a good choice because she is very brave and kind to other people.”

Why it stalls

It uses general adjectives (brave, kind) without pointing to what actually happened in the text.

How we coach the answer (Point + Proof + Explain)

  1. 1. PointYour answer

“I think Maya made the right choice...”

  2. 2. ProofDetail from the story

“...because she fires her last dry flare to warn the lost fishing crew about the reef...”

  3. 3. ExplainWhy that detail matters

“...which shows she values saving several lives right now over keeping a backup for herself.”

How parents see progress, without recording under-18s

Teachers share your child's written paragraph drafts, Word Fossil vocabulary notes and spoken sentences noted live during the lesson, in a written parent update.

Mr. Jay Adams — Founder & Lead Teacher

M.S. in IT Management, WGU · International PGCE, University of Warwick (completing 2026) · Advanced TEFL

Hi, I’m Mr. Jay. Over the past decade teaching in international classrooms in Asia and here in Hanoi, I kept meeting students who could pass grammar worksheets on paper, yet froze when asked to explain an opinion out loud or write a clear paragraph from scratch.

What you can expect when working with me:

  • We start from your learner’s actual work. Every placement or baseline begins with how your child (or you) actually reads, speaks or writes today.
  • One clear priority at a time. Instead of twenty corrections at once, each session focuses on the single highest-impact habit to practise next.
  • Honest feedback and privacy-first teaching. Band references are coaching estimates based on public descriptors, never guaranteed official exam scores—and live sessions with learners under 18 are never recorded.

Clear starting options & transparent pricing

All VietQR and online-checkout payments are billed in Vietnamese Đồng (VND ₫). Approximate US Dollar (~$) figures use 1 USD ≈ 25.400₫ for international reference; families outside Vietnam can also pay set US$ amounts by PayPal on the Speaking page. Live online sessions run across GMT+3 to GMT+8 (Hanoi is GMT+7).
